Opened on Tuesday 7th June 2005 Brookfield Health Sciences Library is located within the UCC Brookfield Health Sciences Complex. The Library is available to all UCC staff and students and has 237 readers places, 74 PCs, 2 group study rooms and photocopying and printing facilities. The Library encompasses two floors and houses the main Nursing and Midwifery, Clinical Therapies, Epidemiology and Public Health, Pharmacy and General Practice collections for UCC.
Accessing the Library:
You will need your UCC ID card to access the Library through the turnstiles (or wheelchair access gate).

Ground Floor (where you come in):
- Information Desk
- Book collection
- 2 Self Issue Machines
- Current issues of our 58 print journals
- 74 PCs
- Wireless access for staff and students
- Group study rooms (can be booked for 2 hour periods for groups of between 2 and 6 people, make booking at the Information Desk)
- Information Skills Training Room (which contains 14 PCs and can be used for study when not required by Library Staff for training)
- Printing and photocopying room
- Photocopying card vending machine
- Subject Liaison Librarians’ Offices
Lower Ground Floor (accessible via stairs or lift within Library):
- 120 study spaces
- Book collection
- Print journals (older issues)
- Audio-visual collection (i.e. CD-ROMs and DVDs)
- Wireless access for staff and students

Opening Hours (Term-time) - General guidelines:
Monday - Friday: Library open 09:00 - 22:15 (Information Desk open 10:15 - 20:15)
Saturdays: Library open 10:00 - 17:00 (Library accessible using ID card but Information Desk closed)
Sundays: Library open 09:00 - 16:00 (Library accessible using ID card but Information Desk closed)

ID card problems and solutions:
Forgotten ID/waiting for replacement: get a letter from the Student Records Office on main campus and this letter will be accepted as proof of ID and enable access to the Library.
No green light/no beep on turnstile: indicates that the ID card itself is damaged. To rectify this issue go to the Student Records Office in the West Wing to get a replacement card and request a confirmation letter until card is ready. Staff should contact Human Resources.
Flashing green light/double beep on turnstile:
(i) Version error: you may have gotten a replacement card but may be using an old card accidentally. The latest version of your card is required the latest version of your card or contact the Student Records Office. Staff should contact Human Resources.
OR
(ii) Badge unauthorized: students may not have registered for their modules/paid their fees and they need to contact the Student Records Office. Staff should contact Human Resources.
